That's good. Still now feeling quite up to par since the food poisoning incident. Been walking, eating more fruits and veggies. I can tell that since I haven't been drinking as much water since I've been at school full time, but I can fix that! When I taught full-time before, I would drink a large bottle of water in two class periods. I will start that again. Too much. I was up three pounds and am now back down. Will push more fluids and try to incorporate more fruits and veggies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can tell right now that I'm in the midst of a big "carbs" phase. I crave bread, chips, rolls, etc. It needs to stop!  I think I finally took control of the situation yesterday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Was planning on walking again today, but I sprained my ankle Saturday and it is still massively swollen, although it has shrunk from the size of a grapefruit to about the size of a plum. My mom got sick and had to have her third surgery in nine months. I think she is on the right track this time though. So hopefully, that stress will lessen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Work has kept me busy - which is great - but sometimes it stresses me, and that leads me to emotionally eat. Pisses me off when I do it. Sometimes I stop myself and other times, I just eat and then walk a lot, hoping I lessened the damage.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Been fairly consistent with the exercise. I use Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds DVD. Great workout.  Always feel refreshed when I'm finished. Plus, I feel like I actually accomplish something.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good thing - I am back down 3 pounds.  Keep working. Keep drinking water. Keep exercising. Lots of stress right now:  mom is in the hospital, stepkids having difficulty at school, deadlines for publications. Can't use that as an excuse though. I decided I didn't need to check today.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Need to get back on the exercise track.  I can tell a difference when I don't walk or do anything else.  Plugged in the dance pad and &lt;em&gt;tried&lt;/em&gt; - yup, that's the key word - &lt;em&gt;tried&lt;/em&gt; to do some Dance, Dance Revolution.  It's crazy fast, but a lot of fun.  I'm sure I look pretty uncoordinated, but who cares? Ugh!  That's probably not bad at all since we went to Omaha for the weekend and we ate a fast food breakfast one morning, pizza for dinner that night, drank a few alcoholic beverages with friends and family, and had limited access to fruits and veggies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Plus, I didn't drink a lot of h20 like I usually do. Pushing a lot of fluid too.  I probably drink 120 ounces of water or tea each day. Asked the nurse practitioner if that's too much.  She said no, so I will continue.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I need to walk 3 miles today.  I was also looking at getting a video from The Biggest Loser. Probably haven't had as much to imbibe as I normally do, but I think I've had over 80 ounces of water today.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Healthy breakfast:  peach, 2 glasses Tea Spot white tea, 2 slices English muffin toast, 1 egg.  Did you know that women who eat two eggs (not fried in butter) for breakfast tend to lose weight faster?  I read that.  Somewhere. :)  Can't remember where.  We'll see if it is true.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Snack:  peach&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lunch:  3-oz grilled hamburger patty,  1 cup green salad, 1/4 c. cottage cheese&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Snack:  medium banana.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not sure what dinner will be - volleyball tonight.  Probably a soft shell taco after the match.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Raining this morning, so walked inside with Leslie Sansone's s Walk Away the Pounds. I'm one of those people.  Since I was young, I've been sensitive about my weight.  I don't like talking about it - unless I'm losing weight. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Have I always been overweight?  I imagine the answer would be yes.  Have I overindulged on food?  Yes.  Have I overindulged in beverages?  Yes.  Do I need to lose weight?  Heck, yeah.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My friend, Annette, got me thinking last week when she started a blog about her quest to get in shape.  I need to, too.  But unlike Annette, I should drop 100 pounds. I'd honestly be happy if I could lose 75, but I'm going to push myself to hit the 100-pound mark.  And I need to do it now, before things get worse and droop even more than they already do. :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ten years ago, I went on a diet.  OK, not really.  I just really started paying attention to the foods I ate.  In reality, it might not have been a healthy diet, but it worked.  I dropped 70 pounds in four months.  I looked better than I had since graduated from college.  I felt better.  I remember walking in my grandparents' house for Christmas that year and one of my uncle's said, "Whoa, you look amazing!"  Great self-esteem boost.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I kept the weight off for two years before I started the slow gain back to where I was before.  Five years ago, when I suffered a personal loss, I lost 30 pounds in two months.  How'd I do it?  I imagine a lot of it was adrenaline.  My life was spinning out of control; I was lost.  And within two years, I'd gained back 15 of those 30 pounds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last year, I ingested some salmonella-tainted food and lost 20.  I fit into a top I'd bought 15 months ago that was too tight.  And at that point, it fit good. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But in the last 15-month time period, I've gained back 30 pounds - -15 of- them in the last two months.  In fact, 15 of them in a 10-day stretch.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And no, I wasn't pigging out on potato chips or noshing on cookies.  Well, maybe one day.  Seriously, no I wasn't.  I'm not sure if it's because I'm "hopefully" approaching the peri-menopause years.  I'm not sure if it's because I feel tied to my desk a lot of days:  I'm a freelance journalist.  Or, is it just because at the middle age of 47, my metabolism isn't what it used to be?  Possibly, the lump on my thyroid is causing the problem.  There is a history of thyroid problems in my family.  And it could be slowing things down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But here's the plan.  I'm going to use this to track my mission to shed 100 pounds.  It might take a year and a half.  It might take five years.
